Events

There's always something happening in Hollywood! Every Saturday morning from May through November 17th you can load up on fresh fruits and veggies from local growers and merchants at the Hollywood Farmers' Market. Hollywood is home to the Junior Rose Parade and the annual Veteran's day parade. The Hollywood Casino Night happens once a year and is the largest fundraiser for the organization. A host of good eating, sales, film festivals,  concerts, and much more will keep you busy in Hollywood throughout the year. Explore what's happening in Hollywood by clicking on the links below. Clean Up Day

The Hollywood District is looking a little bit cleaner and shinier these days. That's because Hollywood Booster volunteers and others from the community sweep through the business district  each month. Everyone's welcome. Just wear your grubbies and bring some gardening tools and debris bags and meet at Fleur DeLis Bakery and Cafe, 3930 NE Hancock. Our next clean up is July 11, from 11 a.m., to 1 p.m.  Click here for more information.

Veterans Day Parade

Portland's only Veterans Day Parade is held annually every November 11th in the heart of Hollywood. Annually sponsored by Ross Hollywood Mortuary, the parade attracts young and old from miles around. Stay tuned for details about the 2010 parade. We'll be announcing more information in the coming months.

Casino Night

Historically Casino Night is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Boosters. The April 2010 event was no different. Thanks to all Hollywood businesses that donated prizes, ranging from gift baskets to gift certificates for dinner. As promised no "gambler" went away empty handed at the end of the evening. And a special thanks to Hollywood restaurants that donated food for the evening.

Junior Rose Parade

Since its inception, Portland's Rose Festival has included a children's parade. The first Rose Festival in 1907 included a parade of 2000 boys and girls representing 23 schools! Hollywood is the home of the Junior Rose Parade, which became official in 1936.
The Hollywood Boosters, one of Portland's oldest and largest neighborhood business associations, has been an active supporter and 'host' of the Junior Rose Parade for decades, serving as marshals and volunteers.
We look forward to playing a positive role in supporting the Rose Festival in general and the nation's largest children's parade, the Junior Parade, in particular far into the future.
We encourage all children, young adults, parents and those who are young at heart to attend tthe Junior Parade typically scheduled for the first Wedesday in June.

Summer Harvest Festival (formerly Third Thursday)

We tried to have our "Summer Harvest Festival" (formerly know as Third Thursday) but we could not accomplish this for 2010.  However, we are already working on this event for 2011.

Instead and on a much small scale, we have been enjoying music, snacks and having customers participate in the "Scavenger Hunt" here at Posh Designs all of August. 
This Saturday we will have Chris Taylor perform from 11:00 till 2:00.   He is mainly a keyboardist who plays jazz influenced pop.  He plays guitar and ukulele and does some singing.  He plays an electric keyboard and currently has a couple of instrumental albums out and is currently recording a third album of original vocal songs. He will have these for sale at Posh Designs this Saturday.  Or, you can come and sit in front of Posh Designs and just listen to the music.
We have had customers particapate throughout August in our "Scavenger Hunt" inside the store.  Just for filling out the questionaire, you will receive a discount on any furniture purchase.  At the end of August, someone will win an accent lamp and someone will win an animal pillow from the entries.
So, come enjoy the music, our friendly atmosphere and snacks (probably cake and soda).
